Founder

I’m Michael Nowak, founder of Anima Sigma. I helped build a fleet analytics company, first as CIO and then as President. There I built a telematics platform from the ground up: the devices, firmware, cellular connectivity and fleet-wide device management, plus the hard work of turning raw sensor signals into data people can trust. I led data scientists, applied mathematicians and engineers across IoT, analytics and machine learning. The company was acquired by a private equity backed strategic, and I now serve as CTO within that PE portfolio. I hold a Master’s in Software Engineering and am a Harvard Business School graduate.

Anima Sigma grew out of a question that ran through all of that work: as machines become more capable, where does human judgment create the most value, and how should work be designed around it? Most AI efforts begin with the technology. We begin with the allocation of work itself, deciding what to automate, what to augment, and what must remain distinctly human. Our aim is to humanize the exceptional and automate the predictable.

In practice

Most software competes for your attention. We are exploring the opposite: an interface built for the edge of your awareness. In our negotiation prototype, the phone never interrupts. When a claim may not hold up, slow waves of color move along the edges of the screen, carrying only as much information as a person can take in mid conversation. It is a new kind of interaction, designed for peripheral vision rather than focus. You stay in the room, and the judgment stays yours.
